Summer 1999 Research Participants

Summer 1999 was the first summer of the U of M MRSEC and its summer research programs. This inaugural summer was very successful. Participants came from regional schools as well as from outside the Midwest. The U of M MRSEC was fortunate to receive support and cooperation from the University's Center for Interfacial Engineering and the National Science Foundation, which allowed the creation of a pilot Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program. In addition, MRSEC's funding allowed a spring 1999 graduate to participate in a pilot program for post graduate research fellows.

The summer experience proved to be educational for both the participants and the U of M MRSEC staff. We look forward to much growth and continued success in the future. Thank you to all who participated in summer 1999. It was a pleasure having you take part in our programs.
